Sulfur Analyzer
(Determination of Total Sulfur in Petroleum and Petroleum Products by Oxidative Combustion and Ultraviolet Fluorescence Method)
INTRODUCTION:
Injected into quartz tube and mixed with O2, the sample burns. S is converted into SO2. Then the combustion gases are routed through a membrane drying system to remove all water. SO2 is exposed to UV light to form SO2 *. As the excited SO2 relaxes, photons are emitted at a specific wavelength range and detected by a photomultiplier tube (PMT). The amount of light detected is proportional to the amount of sulfur.
