 (Determination of Trace Nitrogen in Petroleum and Petroleum Products by Oxidative Combustion and Chemiluminescence)

INTRODUCTION:

Injected into quartz tube and mixed with O₂, the sample burns. N is converted into NO. Then the combustion gases are routed through a membrane drying system to remove all water and have chemical reactions with O? to form NO₂ *.As the excited NO₂ relaxes, photons are emitted at a specific wavelength range and detected by a photomultiplier tube (PMT) . The amount of light detected is proportional to the amount of nitrogen.
